This disc features music by four prominent Faroese composers: Kári Bæk, Kristian Blak, Edvard Nyholm Debess and Sunleif Rasmussen. It was recorded in the presence of the composers at Studio Bloch in the Faroese capital, Tórshavn, in April 2019, and the sessions were followed with a concert in the newly-constructed — and acoustically superb — Aulan í Finsen. The five works, while all remaining true to the inherent qualities of the instrument, nevertheless emphasise and exploit very different aspects of its character; while the “soul” of the Faroes is also explored through depictions of their landscapes and references to Faroese legends.
